Eye Test’s in Wimbledon
Here at Ace Eyewear, we offer in-depth eye examinations for local residents from Wimbledon, Southfields, and Raynes Park.
Customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do and that is why all our eye examinations are an hour-long, this allows our optometrists to assess every aspect of your eyes in great detail. Every appointment includes a full eye health check, including checking your eye pressure, hospital-grade visual field assessment to analyze your peripheral vision, and a dry eye assessment after all those long hours at the computer.
“Quick tip: When your sat at your computer remember the 20-20-20-20 rule. Every twenty minutes, look twenty feet away for twenty seconds and blink twenty times.
As we concentrate on the screen we forget to blink and this means the front surface of our eye isn’t lubricated as the surface of our eye is lubricated by the tear film when we blink”
Of course not forgetting the all-important prescription which is carefully and diligently checked to ensure the perfect vision for all your day-to-day activities.
An eye test can not only pick up eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration but also general health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol as well as some forms of cancer and tumours.
How often should you visit Ace Eyewear Wimbledon for an Eye Test?
Eye tests are recommended by the college of optometrists once a year if you are over 70 and for children. Adults between 16 and 70 are recommended to have an eye test once every two years.
Children’s Eye Test in Wimbledon
When is a child old enough to have an eye test?
Children can have eye examinations from the age of three, although too young to read and identify letters we, therefore, ask children to identify the pictures they see on our state-of-the-art digital testing chart.
As mentioned earlier children are recommended to have their eye’s tested once a year until they are sixteen. This however is a guideline as children grow their prescription is likely to change too.
For example, for children who become shortsighted early in their lives and particularly those whose parents are both shortsighted, we would recommend having their eyes examined more often as their prescription is more likely to change.
When this is the case we want to slow the child’s shortsightedness as much as possible using Myopia management techniques such as specialized contact lenses called MiSight or spectacle lenses called Miyosmart.
These techniques slow the progression of myopia by between 50 and 60 percent. Which in numbers terms means a child who is -8.00 dioptres at the age of 18 with Myopia management would likely only be -4.00/-5.00 diopters.

Contact lenses are a great option for those who prefer to be glasses-free or would like to wear them on an occasional basis for weddings and sporting activities.
